“Squid”

Originally derived from the manner of movement of a squid…

* A young motorcyclist who overestimates his abilities, boasts of his riding skills when in reality he has none. Squid bikes are usually decorated with chrome and various anodized bits. Rear tires are too wide for their own good, swing arm extended. Really slow in the corners, and sudden bursts of acceleration when a straight appears. Squids wear no protection, deeming themselves invincible. This fact compounds itself with the fact that they engage in ‘extreme riding’–performing wheelies and stoppies in public areas. Squids wreck a lot.

* A young man on an incredibly over powered motorcycle, wearing nothing but a helmet who buys an R1 as their first bike, and logs onto a non-stunting sportbike forum asking how to wheelie.

Aprilia RSV4R

February 4, 2010 · 7 Comments

A couple of weeks ago i visited Bike World to check the new Guzzi models and was told that they are getting the new Aprilia RSV4R soon, yesterday i was in Shuwaikh so i decided to drop in and check if the bike has arrived, and i wasn’t disappointed..the bike was there..and apparently it just arrived today… they had both the black and white versions.

The bike has the same engine of the Factory version but without the Öhlins suspension, the forged rims, and the couple of carbon pieces, the price difference is huge and makes the RSV4R very affordable, the bike is the size of 600cc but with the 1000cc engine, it has the most aggressive looks among the one liter bikes. The massacre of the Suzuki brothers

January 30, 2010 · 16 Comments

A friend of mine got the new BMW S1000RR for a day to test ride it, we went out around 10am Friday and enjoyed the usual Friday morning ride …then we meet up with some friends for coffee, one had a Hayabusa and the other had a GSX-R 1000, of-course the usual debate starts and we end up racing the BMW against the Hayabusa and its little brother the GSX-R1000.

I’ll leave you with a couple of videos… Keep reading →

The next big thing

January 27, 2010 · 6 Comments

Apple just launched the iPad, the device is just a bigger iPhone but without the phone, but with 3G connection that we can use to place VOIP calls, a lot of people my have been disappointed or was expecting something much more interesting than just a bigger iPod\iPhone, but i was expecting this since the day i got addicted to my iPhone, the damn thing dosn’t leave my hand..it goes to all the places i go to especially the toilet in the morning, either to listen to music while showering or to check and answer emails while….

I can conduct around 70% of my office work communication using my iPhone but at so many occasions i wished it had a bigger screen, faster processor, better battery life, and the ability to save files and open\play different media formats, the same goes for my laptop i always wanted a faster, lighter 12 inch Mac with better battery life -am still using my 12″ PB G4-.

With the new iPad i believe i can do it all, and i very much belive its going to be the next and only business\entertainment gadget one will ever need…come to think of it at the office most of us use their computers for email, internet, and socializing, at home we use our laptops for the same plus watching movie, listing to music, and gaming, the iPad will do all that and maybe more, so i guess we’ll soon say goodbye to our laptops or we’ll just use them edit home movies.

Sportster 48

January 26, 2010 · 2 Comments

For the past 5 years or so, HD was either repeating it’s own designs or enhancing on excitant ones, but this has started to change with the launch of the XR1200, the V-Rods’, the Rokers’, the Cross Bones, and now the Sportster 48.

It seams that HD is now going back to its old drawing books -apart from engine and chassis- when designing a new bike and is trying to bring back the the old, the very old and classic styles that were only available thru custom builders…the new Sportster  Forty-Eight is all that , it is based on the the Sportster 1200, but with front and rear balloon tyres, under the handlebars mounted mirrors, shorty-style front mudguard, rear cut-down mudguard, single-seat with a low height, and in classic paint options..orange, black, or silver.

A Master Piece

January 20, 2010 · 8 Comments

I visited Bike World showroom today to check if they got any new\interesting bikes, and i wasn’t disappointed…they had the new spacial edition Griso, the  GRISO 8V SE.

The bike comes only in a matte green finish with race stripes that gives it a sporty look, a brown leather saddle with classic stitching, and to top up the classic looks it also comes with Alpina spoked wheels, these wheels are the best tubeless spoked wheels on the market and are race ready, i even upgraded my Duc with a set of their Tattoo line.. what surprised me even more is the use of floating discs breaks and calipers, a race technology that you don’t usually see on a production bike.

This bike needs someone  with a very spacial taste to appreciate the name and the history of Moto Guzzi, someone that appreciate the good looks, someone with a character, someone that will look like the cherry on the cake when riding this master piece.

I hate the Italians, because all their creation constantly reminds me that i am not Jay Leno and i can’t afford a grage like Jay Leno’s Garage , and to own every bike you like would be like getting married to every beautiful women you meet….its never ending.

l think this Guzzi was born a classic, so if you like classic bikes then this one must be among your collection and you have got to see it in person to know what i am talking about.
